Cornwall Candids or Celestine's Boating Adventures

I recently for some reason (I can't remember why) looked back through lots of the photos I took last year when we went to Cornwall. I discovered a few photos I hadn't posted here before which I rather like. They're kind of candids as they have hands and things in them but I quite like that!

Oh I love Cornwall so much!!!

One evening Celestine wanted to go boating down the stream on the beach so my friend Sian and I went down there to take photos of her. That's Sian's hand in the picture, setting the boat into the stream. It's a very nice, quite gentle stream with some rapid-y btits and it goes all the way down to the sea. It's a lot of fun for a tiny person such as Celestine!

Here she is on the same stream in a different (safer!) boat.

On this day we spent all day on the next beach over, sitting in the sunshine and surfing and picnicing. One of our friends dug a hole so deep that when he stood in it it was over his head! Henry did his essay and got a sandy laptop. I remember it being a nice day.

in the evening Henry and I walked back over the cliffs while the others went back in the car...

We stopped for a while at a different beach on the way home and Celestine did some more boating. Here I am putting her and her boat in the stream at the very top of the beach.

Here's a small rock pool (below) which was Celestine's favourite swimming spot. Just perfect for a tiny person. It was her own personal miniature lagoon!

And now here is a fiercer, deeper stream on the next beach over. Celestine had to use her more sturdy boat so as not to capsize- though she almost did anyway. It was a faster, rockier ride with rapids. She looks a little trepadated/suspicious about it (below)

I can't wait to come back here again!!! It's my favourite place ever!

Cornwall

Last week Henry and I went to Cornwall with some friends. We stayed in my favourite place where I have spent a lot of childhood holidays. I hadn't been there for six years and it was SO nice to go back. I won't leave it so long next time!  I think Cornwall really is my absolute favourite place in the whole world.

It was such a good week. We did so much stuff. We cycled 26 miles on the camel trail from Padstow to Bodmin (Henry and I went on a tandem!), ate Cornish pasties and lots of other nice food, sat on the beach for hours in the sunshine, went body boarding (twice- wish it could have been more!) had meals out and a fun game of pool in the pub, watched a horror film (Dagon) ate chocolate ice cream and raspberry sorbet, had a bbq on the beach, toasted marshmallows on the fire, went to a sealife centre and saw a giant octopus at feeding time (impressive! I didn't know they were such intelligent creatures), did lots of clifftop walks, looked round shops in Padstow (saw a miniature dragon but didn't buy it) and Newquay, bought a new red spotty bag, popped into the gallery of an artist friend, sailed my boat down the stream, cooked meals for each other,  went to a craft and miniatures shop, had a cream tea in Padstow,  ate lots of scampi (I love scampi!) bought a Cornish Pixie, raced down the sand dunes, absorbed the breathtaking beauty of the surroundings (personally I have never seen more beautiful beaches than those in Cornwall) and of course took lots of photos!

It was a brilliant brilliant week and the weather for the most part was amazing. I was so so sad to come home as we drove back down the road from the holiday house. I didn't want to leave! But I shall go back. :)
And it goes without saying (though I shall say it anyway) that it was really good to spend the week with our friends. We had a lot of fun and funny times.

And of course Celestine enjoyed the trip immensely too. She had her own proper mini marshmallows (tiny cake decorating marshmallows I found in the supermarket) to toast on her own tiny fire.

I will be counting down the days until we get to go back! ;)

I am a Witch's Cat (cover)

Hello! What's that above picture? I hear you ask. Well my friends, it is the cover of my first picture book published by HarperCollins!  It is now up on various sites but not yet available to buy.  From what I can tell (I'm not sure why I don't know this but hey ho) It should be out around June time next year.  That's what it says the release date is on these various websites anyway. So that is very exciting! I am very excited! It feels like I have been waiting so long for this.  And I know there's still quite a long wait but it's getting smaller by the day!  And seeing it online, on proper book websites like Amazon and Barnes and Noble etc makes it feel so much more real.

So yes, EXCITED!

Currently I still working really hard on the sequel to this picture book at the moment but I am also really looking forward to going on holiday in two weeks. We are going to Cornwall with some friends and I can not WAIT! Just take me to the ocean now please! Celestine is looking forward to it too.

Here she is wearing some of her holiday clothes in anticipation.  And also with a bar of tiny chocolate. It's almost small enough for her!  I've never seen an edible bar of chocolate so small before.

And here are a very few snap shots of work in progress for my Witch's Cat sequel that I am working on at the moment.  Only very much close ups of things as I assume I am not really allowed to share much of it.

As you can probably tell it is Halloween themed again. I think with a character like Witch's Cat it has to be really.

So what else has been going on?  Not a lot apart from work at the moment.  Although Henry and I have decided on our Honeymoon next year which we are very exited about. We were thinking Croatia...Turkey...Greece... and then thought, no, let's not go somewhere where it's bound to be hot and sunny and we can eat ice cream and swim in the sea- let's go to Scotland! And stay in a remote little cottage... on an island...  But seriously, I can't wait! Scotland is so beautiful even if the weather is unpredictable.  I plan to wear a tartan raincoat but I am having trouble finding one. I type tartan raincoat into ebay and all I get are dog raincoats. Still, I've got a year to find one... It's important to stay stylish I have decided- especially when one is on their honeymoon. I am going to deck Celestine out in tartan too. She can have a tartan dress, coat, jacket, trousers and maybe boots too... And I've just this minute remembered that Henry has some tartan trousers that her barely ever wears. He can whip those out and we can all be a vision in tartan- wonderful!

On that note it's probably best I wrap up this post about now.  So yes, hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Mine was wild. We ate fish and chips and watched a snippet of Harry Potter.

Until next time!
